Bás allows a Manipulator to harness death and unlife. A Bás Sigil may target one person, object, or corpse per Mana spent.
Puppets require active Concentration, even when another source sustains the Sigil. Animations persist until destroyed, so long as they can find Mana to drain.
Drain — 1 Mana. Sap vitality and reduce physical ability. Pair with a Discipline Rune to define what is drained.
Bolster — 2 Mana. Increase vitality and enhance physical ability. Pair with a Discipline Rune to define what is bolstered.
Puppet — 3 Mana. Wrest control of an existing corpse as a marionette while Concentrating.
Siphon — 4 Mana. Steal vitality from another creature and add it to your own. Pair with a Discipline Rune to define what is taken.
Animation — 5 Mana. Instill a singular purpose into remains. Animated corpses act without direct control.
Driftwood. Funerary wood tied to endings. Used in hexes, drums, and rattles to hinder enemies or call/control undead.
Jet. Black organic gemstone from Aos’si burial grounds. Associated with nightmares, dread, and necromancy; may substitute for Bás.
Fel-Flesh. Undead husk hide treated with Yarrow oil and elemental earth. Grants Necrotic Resistance; cursed armor causes Dark Hunger.
Darksteel. Steel tempered in Haunted wood, immune to rust and fire but rotting quickly in bright light. Weapons deal Frost or Necrotic; armor resists.
Crypts. The classic and practical approach. Crypts always sit closely in the Violet Tide and act as dark wells of Odium.
Cemeteries. Best when unmarked, abandoned, or unsanctified; sanctified ground resists unwilling use.
Killing Fields. Mass graves and battle memorials. Powerful sites. Extreme caution advised.
Plouton. The greater malefic: time, aging, decay, and finality. Highest on the 25th of Eldermoon.
Feast of the Moon. The 25th of Ivy Moon, when Materia and the Dead Realm draw closest.
The Dragon. The 12th year of the Templar cycle, regarded with caution due to death and Drakōn fear.
“The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.”
